On 7 August, the eve of Raksha Bandhan, tables across the campus disappeared under thread, beads, mirrors and glue. The Rakhi-Making Competition drew entries from every class from 1 to 8, each student designing and finishing a rakhi by hand.
The younger classes went bold and bright; the older ones got ambitious with detail — woven patterns, tiny embellishments, and a few designs intricate enough to pass for shop-bought, which around here counts as the highest compliment.
Thirty-three students earned podium places for their houses.
The best part came after the judging, when most of the rakhis went home to be tied for real. Happy Raksha Bandhan from all of us at Arcadia.
